Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why are your prices so low compared to a hotel?

A: We are a budget-conscious option for people who want to keep their expenses to stay in KL low. We don’t have a front desk or staff onsite 24 hours a day. Rooms are cleaned once a week (including linen change). Our no-frills accommodations are safe, clean, and affordable. Kitchen and lounge spaces are shared, and our residents are responsible for cleaning up after themselves in these spaces.

Q: What are your business hours?

A: Our staff is available by phone Monday to Friday from 10 am to 4 pm; if you call outside of these hours, you will reach the after-hours line, where you will have the opportunity to leave a message and our team will respond as soon as possible.

Q: How do I book a room?

A: Download the application form from our website and send your completed application and your deposit to our team. Once those are received, we will send you a confirmation email with all the details you need. Please allow 1 business day for us to accommodate your move-in.

Q: How do I get to my room?

A: Once your reservation is confirmed, you will receive information from our team about where to retrieve your key and a map of the building.

Q: I’m new to Kirkland Lake. Can I stay with you while I’m looking for an apartment?

A: Yes! The Kirkland Lake Residence is the ideal place for people who are new to town to stay while looking for an apartment and getting settled in town. Our rooms are fully furnished – bed, dresser, TV, bedding and linens are provided, as well as weekly housekeeping.

Q: Do you offer corporate rates?

A: If you book three or more rooms and your company pays for it, we offer a corporate discount of 10% - email our team at klr@sandstonemanagement.ca for more information.

Q: Are your accommodations family-friendly?

A: Many of our residents work shifts, and sleep quality is a high priority for us. We do our absolute best to keep noise to a minimum. As a result, all guests in the building must be 18 or older.

Q: Can I bring my pet?

A: As much as we love our furry friends, there are no pets allowed overnight at the Kirkland Lake Residence. This is for many reasons, including staff and resident allergies, noise concerns, and the extra cleaning required. Additionally, pets left unattended can become disruptive to other guests (some of whom work shift work and sleep at different hours). If you would still like to stay with us, we invite you to check out local boarding options: Precious Pets and the Kirkland Lake Veterinary Clinic.

Q: How far is it to the closest grocery store? Northern College? Restaurants?

A: Foodland is a short drive (approximately 1 minute) or walk (approximately 10 minutes) from the Kirkland Lake Residence. Northern College is approximately a 5-minute drive or 20-25-minute walk away. There are many restaurants along Government Road (approximately 1 minute drive or 10-15 minutes walk away).

Q: What amenities do you have onsite?

A: Parking and Wi-Fi are included. Shared kitchens, complete with all the appliances, utensils, and dishes needed. The ability to store food in shared fridges. You can also rent a small, bar fridge for your room for $25/month. Coin laundry is available in the building. Done-for-you laundry services available for an additional fee. Each room has its own TV with cable or Roku TV, there is also a lounge with couches and a TV.
